First of all, you have to be very committed to this class. This is no class where you can sit around and do things on the weekend, like a regular classes homework. No, this is no ordinary class. When you join this class, you have to be committed. You have to be committed. For example, doing fundraisers. You do not want to miss the fundraisers that you will have to do to go on the STN trip. This past trip that I went on, each student, or every student that wanted to go on the STN trip had to raise $2400. Each fundraiser will only help your parents to pay less money for your trip, so you have to be committed to doing those fundraisers no matter when and what time you will have to be there. This also applies to completing your 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarter project which brings me in to my next piece of advice.
Secondly, make your deadlines. New students, you will be given a deadline to complete your project. Your 1st and 2nd quarter project will be with a partner, and it has to be a news story. You can not depend on your partner to do all of the projects work by themself. You must take time off your own schedule and make adjustments whether it is after school, or meet with them over the weekend. You should do this to meet the deadline. However, the 3rd and 4th quarter project is different. You will be all by yourself to complete your project to show what you have learned in media and how responsible you are so you can not rely on your partner to complete the project now. You have to give up even more time to complete your project on time which is completely normal and students in this class will have to do all the time anyway.
Lastly, you must be very responsible. You must take equipment home most times which includes a camera, (T2I) sennheisers which are microphones, extra batteries for both, and a tripod. Students, carry every piece of equipment that you take home in a equipment bag that the media class provides except for a tripod to keep the equipment safe, except for the tripod. Do NOT BREAK THE EQUIPMENT OR LOSE IT or there will be SEVERE CONSEQUENCES!!!!! Such as paying for such EXPENSIVE EQUIPMENT!!! You are also required to use an SD card while filming to hold or remember all of the shots you take. Make sure when you finish filming, take the SD card out and put it in a safe place where you know it is, or import it to the computer you are editing on as soon as possible; do not lose your SD card or you will have to refilm all of your footage on another SD card.
But that's it for now, but here is one little, but HUGE tip that I have. It is probably the most important. Whatever you do, DO NOT, and I SAY DO NOT, make MR. M MAD!!!!!>:( It will probably be one of those days where you become very intimidated and will not talk to him because you are to afraid. Nah, just joking! Mr. M is a great teacher but really, don't make him mad. That is it for the advice I have for the new students of next year and I will see you at next weeks blog, which will sadly probably be my last blog! Bye!
